I saw Makerbot on Stephen Colbert last night and I immediately thought it would be perfect to showcase here. This phenomenal 3D printer allows someone to create literally anything (see Stephen Colbert's head as a n American bald eagle, the Capitol respectfully in the grip of Colbert's talons).
But other than transforming Mr. Colbert, the 3D printer co-founded by Bre Pettis is useful for designers and artists who can use it to render or refine designs, create prototypes, or simply to replace broken parts around the house.
And if you're having trouble figuring out what you should make with your Makerbot, visit Thingiverse.com for some inspiration.
